Clean Pacific 2025 Highlights

 

The second part of the Official Opening Ceremony for the Clean Pacific Roundtable 2021 included an Inspirational presentation from Inga the Winger on his perspective of “Why we need a Call for Action”. Secondly, SPREP Director General also presented the highlights of the CP 2025 & Call to Action. Finally documented short film for a “Cleaner Pacific – Call to Action”.

All participants were invited to the ISLANDS Forum where the Secretariat presented on the CP 2025 Implementation Plan 2021 - 2025

3rd Clean Pacific Roundtable 2021:
Side Event 1: UNEP Factsheet Launch: Plastic Pollution Prevention in the Pacific Region

 

his session brings together experts from government, academia, industry, and civil society to launch five plastic pollution prevention factsheets: 

  • A Safe(r) Circular Economy for Plastics in the Pacific Islands Region

  • Plastic Pollution Prevention Policy Gaps in the Pacific Region

  • Plastics Pollution and Climate in the Pacific Region

  • Plastics Impacts on Human Health in the Pacific Region

  • Plastics Pollution Impacts on Human Rights in the Pacific Region. 

These factsheets aim to strengthen capacity on plastic pollution prevention among Pacific policy makers and support Pacific nation’s participation in global flora. Supporting Pacific voices is of utmost importance, particularly as we move towards a critical milestone in global governance of plastics at the United Nations Environment Assembly in February 2022.

Deep Dive, Side Event 2: Used Oil Management (IN FRENCH)

 

The lack of proper collection, storage, disposal and treatment of waste oils can lead to environmental contamination, and impact human health. Therefore, effective, and sustainable waste oil management is a major issue to ensure a healthy environment.

This Side Event aims to provide an overview of the used oil management challenge in the Pacific, and more especially in the French Territories, but also of the legislative, technical, and financial tools available to address this issue.
